Mindful Conversations

Staying present with the person we are speaking with helps calm and ground our nervous systems together before we begin the conversation. Knowing that there is a welcoming space for both parties in the conversation helps alleviate the nerves of having the conversation to begin with, sensing the warmth from the presence felt with each other initially. Open body language with open arms or leaning in helps to stay focused on the person and let them know of one’s interest in the conversation.
With that in mind, we get to understand what the other person is trying to communicate with their conversation initiated. This pause and willingness to understand the other person helps to know the conversation is beneficial to both parties and feels seen and heard in the process. This in turn becomes a validating experience and environment for the person speaking in the process. This helps ensure the safety felt as emotionally present communications can ensue. Here’s to more mindful conversations…! 🙂
